Week 5 portrait for a person

Stand and Deliver framed
We were told to make a new piece for somebody. I made a piece called Stand and Deliver. It was for a teacher I had named Ms. Baum. She was a Chicago Fire fan so I drew her in my cartoon style in a jersey from the team. I wrote definitions and saying that related to her as well.
My craft for this piece was paper and colored pencil.
My composition for this is the full caricature of the person who inspired this is your central focus, and the other picture is not supposed to draw a lot of attention.
The concept of this picture is based on a favorite teacher of mine. So i took some definitions for things that related to her and also some sayings too and i put a picture of her in my drawing style in the center wearing a Fire jersey because she was a big fan of the team.

Week 4 New Artwork

Inspiration for new work
This is what I based my picture on.
Our assignment for Monday was to be inspired by one of our 10 pieces of art, and we were to make a new piece of art based on that piece. I choose a clay head I did of one of the characters I created named Kay. She is kind of a punk rocker so I wanted to create something that would reflect her persona. I looked online for ideas of album art because she is a musician. After looking at a Green Day picture I based my picture on that.
The craft that I used for this piece were colored pencils and an index card.
My concept for this piece came from a clay head I made of a character I created myself. Her name is Kayleen or Kay.She is sort of a punk rocker so I wanted to show it in the piece. I took a picture from a popular band, and I made it look similar to it.
My composition is that I want you to focus on her in the center of the flame by coloring her in a darker color. I want to make the head look like it was graffiti on a wall, but i don't want all the attention on it, but your eye still looks at it.
Finished piece in frame
I drew one version of her with triangle eyes. This is because I wanted a non-realistic version of her while playing guitar, and it makes her look like she is into the song. Then I wanted the head part to look like it was spray painted on like a sort of stenciled graffiti look. That is why the name is like that too. I put it inside a black frame because it brings out the picture.

Week2 Portfolio Spread

When you make a piece of art it is for all to enjoy. How do you make sure that it is always there? You have to protect it. Sketch books are one way to have all your ideas and concepts down so that you have something to start on later. I had some Ceramic projects and I packaged them in a box with lots of tissue around it. This is in the photo to the right. I also photographed my art. here is another photo that shows this. If you have big paintings, charcol prints, or just big pieces you shold buy or make a carrying case for them with sheets of cardboard inbetween so that nothing smudges the art. I did this with my work. If you protect your art it will be around for all to enjoy. Taking photos of them means that it will always be there even if it ever gets destroyed.
