The concept for this is from the series main person,Kay. The craft for this piece was the computer. I used photoshop and the pen and tablet to draw the image. Week 5 portrait for a person
Stand and Deliver framed |
My craft for this piece was paper and colored pencil.
My composition for this is the full caricature of the person who inspired this is your central focus, and the other picture is not supposed to draw a lot of attention.
The concept of this picture is based on a favorite teacher of mine. So i took some definitions for things that related to her and also some sayings too and i put a picture of her in my drawing style in the center wearing a Fire jersey because she was a big fan of the team.

Week 4 New Artwork
Inspiration for new work |
This is what I based my picture on. |
The craft that I used for this piece were colored pencils and an index card.
My concept for this piece came from a clay head I made of a character I created myself. Her name is Kayleen or Kay.She is sort of a punk rocker so I wanted to show it in the piece. I took a picture from a popular band, and I made it look similar to it.
My composition is that I want you to focus on her in the center of the flame by coloring her in a darker color. I want to make the head look like it was graffiti on a wall, but i don't want all the attention on it, but your eye still looks at it.
Finished piece in frame |

Week2 Portfolio Spread
When you make a piece of art it is for all to enjoy. How do you make sure that it is always there? You have to protect it. Sketch books are one way to have all your ideas and concepts down so that you have something to start on later. I had some Ceramic projects and I packaged them in a box with lots of tissue around it. This is in the photo to the right. I also photographed my art. here is another photo that shows this. If you have big paintings, charcol prints, or just big pieces you shold buy or make a carrying case for them with sheets of cardboard inbetween so that nothing smudges the art. I did this with my work. If you protect your art it will be around for all to enjoy. Taking photos of them means that it will always be there even if it ever gets destroyed.

Week 1 Intro
Why did I choose Saint Xavier University? Well there a number of reasons why I choose SXU. One reason is because one of my cousins went here. She really liked it here, and that made me interested in looking at this school. When I came for a tour of the school I saw the Visual Arts Center, and I really loved it. The places in the center appealed to my love of Art, and That is what I want to teach. The Art Center wasn't the only hook.
I also liked how friendly the environment was. Everyone was very nice, and it sounded like there was lots to do. You could hang out and play games, watch TV, or have something to eat. At this school they didn't downgrade my decision to be an art teacher. The other school I looked at didn't have a very friendly atmosphere, and their art department was kind of weak. That is why I chose SXU.
